Abstract

This community service program was implemented through the Kosabangsa 2025 scheme with the objective of enhancing community knowledge to support the sustainability of the karst geopark through the application of circular agriculture management. The program was conducted from September to November 2025 in Wotawati, Pucung Village, Girisubo District, Gunungkidul Regency. The respondents consisted of 20 members of the Margo Mulyo Farmers Group. The activities were carried out through training sessions, participatory discussions, and evaluation using a one-group pretest–posttest design to measure changes in community knowledge. The results indicated an increase in the average knowledge score from 56.40 in the pretest to 82.15 in the posttest, with a total improvement of 25.75 points. The paired sample t-test showed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05), indicating that the circular agriculture management training was effective in improving participants’ understanding. The knowledge improvement covered the utilization of agricultural waste, reduction of chemical inputs, and the implementation of environmentally friendly farming practices that are suitable for karst ecosystem characteristics. In conclusion, the program successfully strengthened community capacity as local actors in supporting karst geopark management. Therefore, similar programs are recommended to be implemented continuously as part of community-based education and conservation strategies in karst geopark areas.
